Paris, October 28th, 2023 – Ahead of the Rugby World Cup Final match kickoff in France 2023, British actress Sophie Turner and New Zealand rugby legend Dan Carter present the Webb Ellis Trophy in its Louis Vuitton Trophy Trunk. This unique creation, handcrafted by Louis Vuitton artisans in the historic ateliers in Asnières, protects and transports the legendary Webb Ellis Cup throughout the international competition.
Both are dressed in Louis Vuitton:
Dan Carter wears a single-breasted black wool suit, a black polo shirt and black loafers. The look is completed with the new 18k rose gold Tambour watch. Sophie Turner wears a long sleeve straight top and mini skirt with front pockets, black leather Donna high boots as well as the LV Eclipse Pearls necklace, earrings, and a LV Symphony ring. The look is completed with the new steel and 18k rose gold Tambour watch.
“Victory travels in Louis Vuitton”: For the second time, Louis Vuitton has created the official Trophy Trunk for the Rugby World Cup France 2023. The Monogram canvas trunk was entirely imagined and handcrafted by expert Louis Vuitton artisans in the Maison’s historic Asnières atelier, to protect the most prestigious trophy
in the world of rugby. With this creation, Louis Vuitton perpetuates a tradition dear to the Maison: creating trunks to transport and showcase the trophies of the world’s
most anticipated and highly prized sporting competitions. The two folding front panels of the trunk are painted with a V – for “Victory” and “Vuitton” – in blue, white and red to recall the tournament’s logo and the French flag. One side of the case is further adorned with painted Roman numerals XV – representing the number of players in a Rugby Union team – while the other is decorated with the Rugby World Cup France 2023 logo. The exterior is finished with leather trim and the same brass corner protectors, lock and clasps that have been used on Louis Vuitton trunks since the 1860s.
For the first time in the Maison’s Trophy Trunk collection, the case is lined with rich Louis Vuitton leather, in the same bright Pantone blue color as the painted V decoration. A Rugby World Cup 2023 logo patch on the interior of the lid tops off the case’s decorative elements.
To pay tribute to the bicentenary of Rugby, a painting was specially created in the Louis Vuitton workshops in Asnières on the back of the Trophy Trunk.
