EILEEN GU WEARS IWC AT THE MET GALA

Taking place in New York City on the first Monday in May every year, the Met Gala is an event filled with tradition and heritage. To honour this, Gu wore two IWC watches – each reflecting the company’s rich history in their own way.

She wore the IWC Tribute to Pallweber Edition “150 Years” (Ref. IW505101). Limited to 50 pieces, this 18-carat red gold pocket watch was a part of the Jubilee collection from 2018 that celebrated the company’s 150^th anniversary. It was the first pocket watch from IWC with a digital hours and minutes display since the original Pallweber was discontinued in 1890.

Alongside the pocket watch, Gu also wore the IWC Portofino Automatic Day & Night 34 (Ref. 659802) completed with a pink calfskin strap with the quick-change system. Inspired by an archival IWC design, the first Portofino was presented as a “pocket-watch-style wristwatch” in 1984. The elegant and timeless design has made it a core IWC collection.

Gu’s attendance at the Met Gala comes just several days before her participation at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Paris on May 8^th  where she is nominated as Action Sportsperson of the Year.
